He’s hoping she’ll forgive what a jerk he was and fall for the guy he is.

Mychael Jason and Freddy!

The guys enjoying themselves at MayhemFest June 2013…. next year they will be on stage!!!

OK I know you guys are used to me talking hockey but hey…. the finals have suckaged for me this year. I mean the Eastern Conference finals were painful… watching the Bruins and Penguins fight for a chance at the cup was…. nauseating. Anyway I am cheering for the Blackhawks since my youngest is a fan. But I am getting away from my reason for this post. I have found a band that I want to tell you about. Jason Freddy and Mychael are Circle of Violence. They are heavy. They are dark. They are loud. And they are pretty damn fine if you are in to old school metal. (Pantera, Slayer, etc…..) If you are living in the LA area look them up. I will tag into this post if they give me some dates. If I ever made it to LA I would be on their doorsteps waiting for them to entertain me in a heartbeat! (And guys if you read this and want to send me a ticket I am so there!)

Full EP here….

One of my faves….

This week the guys released a 5 song EP on I hope the link above works for you if not look for Jason Quinlan on there and you will find the EP. The lyrics written by lead singer Mychael Burns are incredible! Jason shreads on the lead. So much so he says that he can’t help me out in my quest for more used guitar wire. And don’t forget Freddy, one of the original members of the band, who has to sit there and watch these guys asses! OK I wouldn’t mind taking the sticks from Freddy~!

I have become friends with Mychael and through him Jason and can’t say enough how fun these guys are to have in my life even if it is long distance! Help them out… go like their Facebook page and their Soundcloud tracks!

I have to add my feelings today after listening to these guys music today and especially the man behind the lyrics…. I have been taken over by a darkness that I put to words tonight…. hope some of you can understand…

Bordeaux rich and dark drips down
Attempts to hinder the ebb from the open wound
Futile as my life is not my own
With my heart in pieces on the ground
I look into the eyes of the one who felled the blow
And see the confusion reflected back
As he covers my hand to help stem the flow
I feel his love envelope me as my world turns to black

Forsaken by the Others by Jess Haines

Book 5 in the H & W Investigations Series

4.5 Hockeystyxxx

Shiarra Waynest has doubts about waking up in the vampires arms but now that she has made her decision hopefully things will work out. Well, that is what she hopes after confronting him with her fears despite the myriad of interruptions from his minions while they try and hash things out, add to that she is taken down by whatever is still coursing through her body. Troubled with the circumstances she is floored when Royce decides to send her and her best friend away for her own safety. WTH? Pushed aside just when she had finally given in to their connection?

Landing in LA Shia and Sara are supposed to stay low key, accept the hospitality of Clyde (head vampire of Los Angeles) and keep in contact with Royce in case things change. Yeah, it wouldn’t be an exciting read if any of those things happened. Landing smack dab into the middle of some kind of turf war, they are immediately forced into service (private investigator service that is) and sent out to find out who is controlling a pack of rabid zombies that are attacking Clyde’s vampires. As well they have to deliver a special package to a Goliath werewolf (the name says it all) which may or may not be a death wish in itself. All the while they are dealing more than a few speed bumps including being babysat by a bitchy vampire body guard and having no phone to contact Royce to let him know what kind of a shit storm they landed in. Shia and Sara find help from a couple of unlikely sources, NOT the vampire who was supposed to be protecting them, while they deal with the betrayal, backstabbing and zombie apocalypse invading their California escape but will it be enough when Shia realizes she had been used as a pawn in a much larger and deadlier game.

Right now I want to crawl in Jess Haines brainzzz and pull out the rest of the story. (No this is not a pun on it being a zombie infused book…well maybe) Why? Because not only did she wrap me back up in Shia’s story but she left me hanging….again! What is it with these cliffhanger storylines? Does she not love her readers enough to give them that little bit extra to hold them over until the next book comes out? Ha! I think she likes to tease and taunt her readers with an edge of the seat storyline then leaving off while the danger and intrigue is at its peak! Oh and I won’t even go in to the lack of Royce in this story. For a Team Royce member there was a definite lack of fulfillment in that regard. Seriously, throw us a bone! On another note though there are so many other questions that are needing answers I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book. Shia’s got another difficult mess to get out of but more importantly she has yet to deal with both her emotions from being tied to Royce and the physical ramifications from whatever is coursing through her blood. I cannot wait for the next book in this series. Seriously I can’t wait! I wonder if Ms. Haines would accept a bribe to leave her day job, abandon twitter and get on this asap?!

Being Me by Lisa Renee Jones

Warning this review does contain spoilers:

Temptation. Desire. Indecisions. Danger.

Sara McMillan had faced all of these feelings and more as she worked through her relationship with Chris Merit but it was the distraction of the diary her friend Ella had found in the storage locker that consumed her thoughts when she wasn’t devoured by the passion of their relationship. The thought of discovering who it was that Rebecca had called Master and where she had disappeared to was a desperate and all-consuming thought in her mind. Returning to the locker where Rebecca’s life was in storage, caught up in her own questions about Chris’ life and what he really wants from her only intensifying, everything goes dark. Someone has something to hide besides the missing woman and Sara’s fears as well as Chris’s are that she has stumbled into something much more sinister. Chris’ sudden return from his trip couldn’t have come at a better time. Sara needs him but even after she agrees to staying at his place while they investigate she won’t leave her job behind at the gallery. Even after he confirms that the Master in Rebecca’s journals is who she suspects. Confronting her boss at work, Sara needs confirmation she is there for more than a pull toy to be tugged between two men. Two men who were once friends and shared a past. He wants her and will use praising her in the job she wants to do it. Pulled between Chris and Mark Sara struggles with her feelings for both despite knowing which man already owns her heart. If only she could open up her mouth and admit that she already belongs to Chris…but after the journal she can’t honestly belong to anyone. Despite her insecurities she IS WITH him. Hopefully that will be enough. Meeting Ryan Kilmer she realizes it to be another test of Marks, but instead he sets her at ease but the meeting with Ricco, was something different, even though she had initially trusted the man. With a body guard following her for her peace of mind the meeting goes better than expected but with the sudden appearance of the man waiting outside everything changes. Chris waiting on outside, blowing off his meetings for her, sets something new off in their relationship. Mark has been outright in his desire to mold her but Chris holds her heart even though the trust is not entirely there yet. Going away with him, letting his investigators look into both Rebecca and Ella’s disappearances. Things seem to be going well until the news of a young boy Chris has let get under his skin is losing his battle with Cancer. His darkness threatens but Sara pulls him back only to be confronted with her own demons. Facing two men who hurt her in the past she struggles with her own darkness and has to make a choice which man to lean on. Chris can’t allow her to leave but he also has to struggle to keep himself together. They will have to work at it but things don’t go smoothly when he once again won’t give her the honest truth about his connection with Rebecca. Running to Mark once again, after almost giving in to him and Ryan, the truth there is even uglier when revelations about Rebecca are revealed and she stares death in the face as her involvement with both men triggers events that bring all of their combined fates into play.

I anxiously awaited this book from the very minute I finished If I Were You. Actually holding on to my opinion so as not to let lose a torrent of spoilers was hard when I received an early e copy. Very hard! Being Me is beyond what I expected from Ms. Lisa and that is saying a lot since I always expect perfection from her stories and am never disappointed. Sara, the quiet kindergarten teacher has always tried to shy away from the world that she is now wrapped up in but with each day she realizes that she needs not only the job but the dominant men in her life. Sara faces a myriad of emotional and physical choices in both her personal and professional life as she opens up her life to Chris and stands beside him as he reveals the darkness inside of him. Chris is even darker this time around which I loved. The rich, casual, devil-may-care persona reveals cracks especially when he has to face the mortality of someone he cares for, something he chooses to do in his own way, potentially pushing Sara into the arms of another who does not deny his attraction which amps up the tension to a peak that forced me into a book hangover because I couldn’t put it down. BTW….. book hangovers are always good! Answers to many of the questions readers were left pondering are answered in this book but many more are opened wide and help the story evolve and even more are answered in the series of journal entries that give the reader a fascinating look at what similarities Rebecca and Sara have as she writes her innermost feelings down before her disappearance. This story is above and beyond most others who have been grouped into this category of erotica. Lisa weaves a tale that grips you in its emotion then ties you up and binds you to the characters as they submit to their passions, fears and love.

I need to add that this book, series, has been optioned by Starz to be a extraordinary television experience. I for one… cannot wait!

I received an ebook copy of this book for my honest review but I purchased the print copy because I love the story so much I couldn’t wait to hold it in my hands. If you care to help me out follow the Book Depostitory link at the side bar and order yours today.

Once a Brat by Kim Dare

4 Hockeystyxxx

Marcus Tremayne got the nod that his “stalker” was at Spread Eagle again making him more than a little uncomfortable. Maybe using him to vent some of the anger he had stirred up these last few weeks would scare the sub away once and for all and he could have a little fun while he was at it. Bret Daniels was not only angelic looking the boy was a newbie too. This could be really what he needed.
Bret knew at 20 that he was gay and he knew that making his New Years resolution to submit was exactly what he wanted and needed in his life. Seeing Marcus almost immediately upon entering the club for the first night only solidified his resolve. He had never submitted to anyone but Marcus was definitely the one he wanted to learn from.
Following the first rule was hard and Bret knew that speaking out of turn to the other Doms was going to get him in trouble. Hopefully good trouble, the trouble he came here to find in the first place. Bret was a brat but Marcus found himself looking for him every day. He had told him to stay away but there was something about the brat that had him wishing he had never told him to wait the week before coming to see him again. Bret the brat really needed to be taken to hand and taking him home was his only choice. When their games get going it all stops suddenly when the ball hits the floor and they both suffer from what it means for their relationship.
I was really entertained by this M/M offering by Ms. Dare. Bret was cute and a little sassy, a typical brat, but he knew what he wanted and wouldn’t let Marcus say no without at least giving him a chance to prove himself. I loved Marcus as he fought with himself to stay away but their instant attraction and chemistry were too much for him not to give in to as their interactions exploded off the pages.

Take it Like a Vamp by Candace Havens

5 Hockeystyxxx

Casey loved curling up and watching her favorite vampire television show Night Angels with the sexiest man alive but even as she accepted his friendship she knew that there was no way the tall, handsome, gazzillionaire would go for her. She was… well her body had curves, a lot of curves, despite pretty much giving up on carbs since her neighbor decided to spend so much time keeping her company in between his rotating line up of Barbie dates. It didn’t stop her from naming her favorite toy Mr. Nick though.
Nick knew that Casey was not the right woman for him. She was human and even being near him she stirred up a passion and desire like he had never known before. He couldn’t take away her humanity to be with him. The council, forcing him to declare his bride wanted it done this week or he would lose his presidency. Gave in to his craving and gave her the pretty woman treatment with his friend Linc helping him or rather prodding him. When a meeting at the party stole him away from her it was Linc who took her home when she ran from the party.
Alvinia wanted him back for whatever reason and the goth chipmunk, as Casey called her, wasn’t going to take him away from her even though he still told himself it was just pretend. Attacked at work, Casey is near death but pulls through only to have Nick by her side ready to open up and tell her the truth; that he is a vampire, and hoping she doesn’t run. But run she does…for donuts and coffee. Sweeping her away to his island they prep for a quick wedding but the crazy lady breaches the wards and gets her hooks into Casey and the only way to save her is to take the first step. A step that she might hate him for but the only thing Nick can focus on is his hope that Casey will fight back enough to get the bitch out of her head and open her eyes to see how much he loves her.
I loved loved loved this book! I saw so much of myself in Casey it was scary at first! I was like: did Candace write me as a character? Her body and her self image, her likes, her humor and her desire to be wanted by the sexy guy but giving up hope to go out with losers…. Hello! Been there done that. And Nick was so dayum sexy as he worked his way through his true feelings and emotions for Casey! I loved their banter, their connection and their delicious intimacies! Oh and Linc, Nicks best friend…. Yummy bonus candy! So hoping that Ms. Havens decides to continue this world with more stories in the future because one taste of this world was not enough.
