Hidden Prey by Cheyenne McCray
5 Tombstones
DHS Agent Landon Walker had been hiding from the world for too long. Dealing with the loss of his fiancee over a year before he knew he had to come back to the living. He needed to start building the relationships with his friends again that he had left neglected for so long. Walking out of his grandmothers house he opens his arms to help a woman running from the demons chasing her and soon finds that her courage and strength is the balm he needs to help heal him.
Tori Cox needed to get away from the abusive relationship she was in. Going home to Bisbee and her parents was the first step in breaking the hold her boyfriend held on her. Walking down the street to find she remembered almost everything from her youth growing up there was helping her accept that she had finally done the right thing despite leaving her belongings behind. Stumbling into a murder in progress she runs for her life and finds herself in the arms of a tall dark stranger….a stranger she needs to protect her from all the people hunting her down.
Stepping away from the attraction he felt for Tori wasn’t an option despite the dangers to both of them. She needed his help, he needed to help her and together they needed to prove to themselves that they deserved to fight for each other. The dangers threatening them are very deadly and there is nothing more important in their fight than to trust in the love they share.
My very first stumbles into the world of Cheyenne McCray were Chosen Prey and Moving Target and with them I was hooked into her books and devoured as many as I could get a hold of. When I heard that the new series, Lawmen, was a part of this same world I was hungry to get my hands on the book! Thankfully I wasn’t kept waiting too long and in a day I had fed my appetite with this hot sexy read. Landon is still recouping from an accident that changed his life but is ready to emerge from his self preservation world of too much work and too much alcohol. The tall, sexy and brooding DHS agent gets more than he asks for when Tori runs into his life. Literally! Tori’s world had always been her music and sharing it with the world but after her relationship runs sour she needs to start fresh. Starting over never was supposed to come with threats to not only her life but the lives of everyone who she had ever cared for. Ms. McCray is brilliant as she wraps you up in Tori’s flight for her life and Landon’s re-emergence from his self inflicted exile from the world. This suspenseful romance is a brilliant ride from start to finish with emotional twists and turns that this reader never saw coming as they fought for their lives, their love and their future together.
