Highland Dawn by Donna Grant

HIghland Dawn

Moira had thought she would always be alone. Although she was happy to watch the love her sisters had found she knew if she was to fulfil her part of the prophecy she would never have a family or love of her own. There had only been one man she had ever thought of in that way anyway. Dartayous. The Druid warrior who both intrigued and frustrated her.
Dartayous had promised to keep Moira safe. One vow he took very seriously no matter how the woman turned him inside out. He could not tell her why he kept her and every other woman before her at arms length. Why he poked and prodded her instead of pulling her close and letting her know what she did to him.

Sent together to fulfill the prophecy and do their part to help release the fae from their prison they find a young babe who tugs at Moira’s heart but she had a destiny and being a mother was not a part of it and would never be with her heart belonging to the stubborn warrior with her on the journey. Taking a babe along with them will not aid them on their quest but when the woman asks to bring him along with them asks he knows he cannot deny her and say no to the woman he had ever loved, and for an immortal that was a very long time. Arriving at the destined spot they find out the old crones prediction was right and they did in fact have the key to the fae world with them the entire time but there was no easy path to follow when another has plans for Moira. Plans of a man that had already caused her and her family pain and suffering and that included making her the new Queen and taking over both worlds.
Lugus had set in motion his plans but unless the fates could be changed they could be the downfall of both the fae and the human realms forever.

Donna Grant has been a fave of mine since I read her Sisters of Magic series years ago. My addiction to her Dark Warrior series is not a secret either. So too this series, and this, the final chapter in the Druids Glen series. Moira is a strong woman and her heart is the most generous and strongest part of her as she keeps its secret desires hidden even from herself at times then opens it up to not only the man she loves but gives a part of it to another who is not as deserving when she sees his true self beneath the guise he has worn for most of his life. Dartayous is a warrior through and through but the secret he keeps hidden deters him from what he has desired most and the one that could make him happy and whole. Their journey is not easy and they are both tested but when they both are forced to chose it is one path that they both walk down, together and forever. Another great read from Ms. Grant and one I would highly recommend!

My Three Lords by Juniper Bell

Miss Alicia Silverwood was used to being around men. Her brothers had made sure of that fact but she never expected that her future would include not one but three. Married to one, playmate to another and reason to live for another.

A bet by the new groom, the Earl of Dorchester, might not have been the best thing to admit to a new bride. Especially when it entails betting she would be satisfied with just a strong cock against his friend the Marquis de Beaumont who is determined that he can use his skill as a rake to gain her favor. With the attention of both men Alicia should be content and happy to be loved as such with two giving males. Missing something she has no thought to look elsewhere until the mysterious green eyed stranger sets upon their door. The Duke of Warrington never lets anyone see his true self but she realizes that he is not a stranger but something much more. Someone who can give her the part that is missing from her life. The love of a man with not only his body but his heart and soul.

This erotic escape was full of naughtiness and fun! Miss Alicia is one lucky lady when she finds herself with not one man in her bed after saying I Do but three. Three men who are very different and give her very different things but combined give her everything she ever dreamed about.

Married to the Job

A new release from Cynthia Racette, Married to the Job is a romantic look at love at first sight and the the struggles of juggling a long distance releationship.

Blurb:

Dr. Miranda Perry is a workaholic whose job is everything to her. When sexy, smart, and suave Dr. Russell Rogers visits Palomar to give a seminar, he blows her world apart.

It’s love at first sight for Russ, and he uses every trick in his arsenal to convince Miranda to go out with him. In the short time they have together, sparks fly and sexual attraction burns up the sheets.

After Russ returns to his job in Boston, the two arrange hectic, emotion- and sex-filled moments, but the liaisons in the Midwest don’t cut it and a choice must be made. With each of them committed to prestigious jobs on opposite sides of the country, will they let the fire burn out because each is married to the job?

A couple of Excerpts for you to enjoy:

“I know we just met, but I want to kiss you,” he murmured, his nose in her hair. “There’s a dark corner over there. Come on.”
She shivered at his words, eager to feel his lips on hers. It seemed as if she’d waited forever for that touch even though it had only been a few hours since they met.
He led her across the floor to a dim space around the end of the bar. Pressing her into the corner, he brought his mouth down to hers, gently at first and then with more firmness. His arms closed around her waist and pulled her to him. Her body responded to the pressure of his, contouring itself around his shape. He nibbled on her neck for a few moments and then he brought his lips back to hers, insistently persuading hers to open widely in passion. Soon, they were both plunging their tongues into each other’s mouths, angling their heads for better access, frantic to get as close to each other as they could.
Heavy breathing filled the small space, and it emanated from both sides. This is so not good. She wanted to eat him alive, but they were in a public restaurant, and, if they didn’t restrain themselves soon, people would start to notice. If they hadn’t already. She stepped back, breaking his hold, and hating to lose his warmth, but they she knew they had to stop.
Slowly, as she dragged her lips from his, then leaned her forehead against his chest, she tried to calm her breathing and her heart. His lips touched her hair and then he set his cheek on top of her head. Finally, their breathing almost back to normal, they broke apart and drifted back to their chairs. She glanced around. No one appeared to be looking at them. She didn’t really care what other people thought, but still, she didn’t want to create a spectacle.
“I suppose I should apologize for that,” he said quietly as he pulled his chair in. “Except I’m not sorry about what happened at all.

And another taste….

They were both ready to come together when Miranda panicked. “Wait, Russ. I’m not sure we should be doing this. I’m not into one-night stands. I don’t do that sort of thing.”
“I don’t either.” Along with the heat and passion, his face showed determination.
“You’re leaving tomorrow. How can it be anything other than a one-night stand?”
“I may be leaving, but I’m not getting on that plane until I’ve made utter and complete love to you. And, whether I leave tomorrow or not, we’re not severing this relationship. Not if I have anything to say about it.”
She lay for a moment, staring up at him, stunned. He could tell no one had ever said anything like that to her. He didn’t want to let her go. Did that mean he wanted something permanent? Geez. He was afraid to go there yet, but just as much, he was afraid not to.
His heart fluttered and hot zings flew through his body. He watched Miranda simmer and burn, feelings settling at her center, where warmth and moistness and firing nerve endings invited him to explore.
Their gazes met and hers blazed with intense fire, like a conflagration started by two suns colliding.

Desperate Housewives of Avalon by Saranna DeWylde

Desperate Housewives of Avalon

When given the opportunity to read a Saranna DeWylde book I don’t have to be asked twice or give it a second thought. I pounce! And I have never been disappointed! OMG her humor and her wit shine through with every character and interaction in every book! I mean, who combines immortal Gods and Goddesses with legendary ancient rulers and whips it into an entertaining and hilarious spoof of one of today’s most popular “reality” series? Ms. DeWylde does and she does it to perfection! If you happen to read this book when you are in a public area be forewarned! You WILL laugh out loud! You WILL be unable to stop reading! And you WILL want more when you are done!
Artemis is tired of being the immortal virgin…. She wants her V card punched and thanks to Aphrodite and her prodding a trip to Avalon to try and snare Mordred, bastard son of King Arthur and Morgan, and like his father one of the resident “attractions” for a hot and quick hook up. Aphrodite hopefully had chosen the right man for her but when another magic gets involved things could seriously go awry.
Guinevere du Lac might have wished she had made another choice than to spend eternity with Lance but she had made her bed and had to live with her choices. Even though he hadn’t shared that bed in over a century but when he walked out the door voicing his own similar concerns it still hurt. Could she even find a way to make things right with the one man who had given her everything, including a crown? Despite still loving Arthur she needed to let him find a way to love another and forget the pain she put him through.
Morgan might have agreed to her friend Aphrodite’s plan to hook her son up with the virgin goddess of the hunt but she couldn’t put her self in the same place. Or could she? Lance had always been the one she pined for. If he walked into her place and wanted her just as a booty call could she walk away from the most handsome man she had ever seen and the same one who she had always wanted after he was through with her? Rebound sex was amazing but not when her heart was involved.
Aphrodite needed to get away from Ares. She had always thought he was the one for her but his reluctance to give her his heart, or declaration of his love, had finally sunk in and given her pause. Tagging along with Artemis was just the thing she needed. The goddess of love needed to make sure things went smoothly with her friend and if she found out something more about her own heart on the way even better. Aeron was supposed to be a back up for her friend but there was just something about those Gods of War that got under her skin.
Vivienne du Lac, Lady of the Lake, needed to remedy a mistake she had made centuries ago. Morgan was supposed to end up with Lance, her son, not Gwen. Her own accursed love life aside she needed to help them along. Taunted by Mordred in the guise of his father Arthur, she uses her power to curse him might just get her into trouble with the Goddess of Love who had just arrived. When she is faced with losing her powers it might take more than a declaration from a man she had trusted by her side for centuries for her to accept his offer.
A full cast of immortals combine to make this a fantastic romp! The tug of war for Aphrodite’s heart between Ares and Aeron, the declaration of love from a man no longer the young boy Vivienne had always saw him as and the tangled web of love and devotion that the King and his Queen had let their hearts weave into a mess even the Goddess of Love could not untwine. The connection between Morgan and Lance was immediate and exciting as they indulge without thought of the future. Finally the virgin huntress Artemis finds the one man who she thinks can punch her ticket but the bad boy of Avalon can never be a part of her future…unless the curse that the Lady of the Lake put on him has more truth to it than they ever thought. A truth that would bind them together for an eternity.
Wrapped up together these stories are a very entertaining and humorous read. I loved it and whipped through this story in one sitting! Saranna DeWylde is one of the best comedic romance writers today and her ability to weave a tale makes her a favorite.
