Lolly Duval has plans to make it big as a designer but before she finishes school there are a few things she wants to get a step up on while back in Henderson for the summer. The plan was for those two things to be modifying the new athletic cup she had been working on and the other was her own designs for the upcoming show. Instead she finds herself caught in between two handsome police officers and it isn’t a bad place to be! Sexy and stalwart, and all around good guy, Brooks Bennett had been more than a crush of hers forever but the sinfully delicious bad boy Vance Evans could certainly turn her head if her heart wasn’t already taken. Agreeing to help them both was full of good intent but when the lines get crossed and the summer heat escalates she needs to make a stand and let them both know who owns her heart.

Brooks Bennett, good cop, stand up guy, and Golden Boy of Henderson had major plans of his own. Getting Henderson on the map as one of the best places to live in America was up there along with his plans to run and win the mayoral race next election. Having the right woman by his side was a part of that dream and for as long as he could think Lolly DuVal had been the “right woman”. Taking a leap when he heard she was going to be back in town for not only his sisters engagement party but the summer he made sure he had her on his arm for at least the party if not many more nights during the summer. If Vance had not had his hands on her feet the first time he saw her again things might have been less complicated but of course, the seducer of Henderson, the bad boy himself, was involved and thanks to him Lolly would be part and parcel of both their summers. He needed to step up his game and play by the other book if he hoped to win the heart of the girl who stole his years ago.

Vance Evans was not only the “Bad Cop” he was the epitome of the bad boy! Women were an easy conquest of his but once they were bed he didn’t want anything to do with them. Why couldn’t he just like a woman? He wanted the whole package. He wanted a wife and kids, especially now that he had hit the ripe old age of 30 but he had never been able to like a woman let alone fall in love with one. Lolly was a perfect fit for his plan. Hanging out, playing sports and learning how to appreciate a woman as a friend was just what he needed to get on the right track but when he finds that he wants to cross the line with her and become more than just friends he might lose everything else he cherishes along the way.

My procurement of this book was not totally on the up and up…well that is if the inscription is to be believed. “Shell, thanks for stealing my Good Cop!” To be honest, the book was just sitting there waiting to be claimed and I did qualify to pick it as my prize, I just skipped the line because it was the last one on the table! LOL I am so glad I did! But if you want to send one of these handsome cops after me bring on the cuffs! I loved the sexy and fun banter between Lolly and her guys! Lolly is fun loving, cute and has a smart sassy attitude that I loved! The guys are uuuunnnnnffff! Yummy! Sexy! Fun! And I was honestly back and forth in my dedication between them throughout…. and TBH was really looking forward to a little threesome action! Bennett is just…. well I can’t seem to say, he was awesome, more than awesome! And Vance is… gah! You know… I still am torn. This is why it was such a good book! I know who I wanted to win Lolly’s heart but I to this day continue to waver back and forth! On top of this was the secondary romance of two characters that gave the reader a little more spice since our “Good Cop” was adamant about making things perfect for his love. Yeah. Maybe that’s it! Bennett was perfect! Vance was perfect! OK that didn’t help! Buy this book and help me figure it out! Oh and BTW…. I would totally steal both the Good Cop again….and the Bad Cop too!

My very first stumbles into the world of Cheyenne McCray were Chosen Prey and Moving Target and with them I was hooked into her books and devoured as many as I could get a hold of. When I heard that the new series, Lawmen, was a part of this same world I was hungry to get my hands on the book! Thankfully I wasn’t kept waiting too long and in a day I had fed my appetite with this hot sexy read. Landon is still recouping from an accident that changed his life but is ready to emerge from his self preservation world of too much work and too much alcohol. The tall, sexy and brooding DHS agent gets more than he asks for when Tori runs into his life. Literally! Tori’s world had always been her music and sharing it with the world but after her relationship runs sour she needs to start fresh. Starting over never was supposed to come with threats to not only her life but the lives of everyone who she had ever cared for. Ms. McCray is brilliant as she wraps you up in Tori’s flight for her life and Landon’s re-emergence from his self inflicted exile from the world. This suspenseful romance is a brilliant ride from start to finish with emotional twists and turns that this reader never saw coming as they fought for their lives, their love and their future together.

New Reviews and Some Catching Up!

Hey everyone! Hope things are well with all my loyal followers. I am just getting into the swing of things again and today you will see two new posts as a result. Crossing fingers that more are to come very soon!

Recently I was able to knock one major item off my bucket list! I was able to visit New Orleans! Yes! I will blog more on it later with some pics but will touch on a few things here today. Number one…. It was amazing despite not getting out of the French Quarter and visiting the rest of the city! I was there for the Romantic Times convention and it did not disappoint! Besides taking a walk by myself to the square I met with some new friends and walked to the cemetery suspected to be the final resting spot for Marie Laveau, got a little tipsy during a walk down Bourbon Street, bartered to buy some awesome earrings and stood on a roof top and looked down over it all one night.

Another part of this was the convention itself. Thanks to my room mate Jenni I was invited to lunch with some very awesome ladies! One of the talented women was Sara Humphreys. (Who I just realized used to be on Another World which I watched loyally from the time I was a kid with my Gramma until it went off the air in the late nineties!) Such a beautiful woman and an inspiration to someone trying to lose weight after deciding it was time to make a change in my life…. I won’t say that we were eating some delicious pizza for lunch… but the gracious lady gave me a couple of her books while I was there and despite having about 100 to chose from when I got home one of hers was one of the first couple that I pulled out of the pile to devour. And devour I did! Tall, Dark and Vampire was an amazing read and to my delight I was able to get my hands on a copy of the sequel Vampire Trouble as well. It releases July 1 so be sure to pick it up! I hope you enjoy the brief reviews below of both these tasty vampire delights! Thank you Sara for being so awesome and getting me hooked on this new series!

Nothing was as simple as that, especially when his investigation into recent murders kept bringing him back into her orbit and his desire for the flesh and blood version of the sexy red-head was even more intense than the connection they shared in his dreams.

Someone was out to get Olivia and it seemed to be personal but that didn’t stop her from thinking of the sexy detective constantly and wanting to find out just what connection they shared. Digging into the investigation all leads kept bringing him back to Olivia and it isn’t all good when he wakes up after being attacked. Wakes up with news that his life as he knew it had been forever changed and the woman herself was the one to decide his fate. Despite everything they must push things aside and work together now more than ever to get rid of the threat before more people lose their life to whoever has a vendetta against them.

Wow… just wow. This has the taste of one hell of a series. The spin off from Humphreys Amoveo series, this book is a great jumping off point for a fantastic vampire collection. Olivia and Doug are awesome together. Doug’s reluctance to accept his fate makes the tension in the book jump up and wrap around your heart as does Olivia’s turmoil for her part in his change. My emotions were tugged left and right throughout their story as they deal with acceptance of the past, their real connection as bloodmates and what the future holds because of who they really are. The twists and turns and revelations in this book will keep the reader on the edge of their seat! I am hungry for more already!

One that neither wanted to fight as they give in to the bloodmate bond that would bring them closer to each other than any before. With the incite of a powerful gypsy, they find more than they expected when looking into Maya’s past and with that new knowledge it gives her a new weapon to use against the threat chasing her down.

This is one powerful, heart wrenching and emotional story. As much as I loved Tall, Dark and Vampire I think I lost my heart to Shane in this story. The stalwart vampire had always followed the rules, kept to himself and fought for the Presidium, never thinking of himself or his wants and needs. His connection to Maya is beautiful, their journey emotional and touching as she found a way to release the “demons” chasing her and give in to her desires to be loved by a man and push the terrors behind her. Maya is a strong heroine and she captivated me with her determination and the way she pushed through even after her heart was crushed to do what was right for everyone in their world. I was most impressed with the way she grew and blossomed from a self centered creature to one who was willing to sacrifice for everyone from one book to the next made this book hard to put down. Kudos Ms. Humphreys! Can’t wait to read the next one!
